FAQs

What can I learn?

I can teach sound design, mixing, mastering, writing, recording, DJing, social media and record label management and almost anything else related to my profession.

How are lessons structured?

There are no set lesson plans. I will tailor the lessons to you specifically, based on whatever it is that you want to learn.

Are you a qualified teacher?

I do not have any teaching qualifications, although I did teach music producion and DJing about 10 years ago.

What will I need?

If you want to learn sound design, mixing or mastering then it goes without saying that you will need the appropriate software.

How are lessons conducted?

Lessons are given via video call over Zoom, Skype, Facetime or any other video calling service.

How often and how long are lessons?

Lessons are weekly at a time which is convenient for both parties and are 60 minutes in length.

Will I get a qualification or certificate?

Nope! Lessons are purely informal and simply for the purpose of learning.

Restrictions

Unfortunately, I am only able to offer lessons to people aged 18+.

Experience

I've spent the last decade writing, producing, mixing and mastering dozens of tracks which have been heard by millions of people and played by many of the World’s top DJs. I've collaborated with arists like Method Man, Eva Simons, Far East Movement and plenty more.

I specialise in mixing and mastering music for the dancefloor. Over the course of my career I’ve honed my characterful and unique sound which is known for cutting through on club and festival sound systems. I also spent many years playing in and recording bands, so I have experience working with live instrumentation as well as electronic sounds.

To date, music I have worked on has totalled over 200 million plays on Spotify.

I founded Circus Records in 2009 along with Flux Pavilion, and over the last 11 years the label has grown to become one of the UK’s most well-established dance music labels. Running the label has given me valuable insight and experience in the music industry which helps me to continute to stay in touch with continuing trends in music production styles and mixing and mastering standards.

I’ve also spent the last 11 years travelling the world, playing hundreds of shows at some of the biggest and best clubs and festivals. This has given me a great understand of what it takes for music to sound good (and bad) on big sound systems.

 

Qualifications

 

As well as having over a decade of experience in the music industry, I also have a few technical qualifications which include:

  • BTEC National Award in Acoustics
